At the WTO (World Trade Organisation), India’s solar policy with the local content condition was challenged. To open USD 1 billion worth market, Us has forced India by this policy. Mike Froman who is the American Trade representative of the outgoing government has told that the US will not allow this “new form of protectionism” and this is a message to the world. About the eight years of the Obama administration, this is an exit memo, he also told.
According to the memo, at the WTO, 24 cases were filed against many countries. Having large-scale benefits, the focus of US is on cases.
“Challenging India’s regional content specifications was not just about improving solar panel exports to India, but was designed to deliver an email to government authorities all over everyone around you that the United States would not accept this new type of protectionism to remove our items from their marketplaces, opposite to their WTO responsibilities,” Froman said.
The US had also pushed China’s business limitations on rare earth materials which were unpleasant US producers who required those as raw components and also sent a concept to China and other nations that such constraints will not be accepted in any industry for getting a business distortive benefit over the US.
From illegal limiting to auto imports, restriction on services trade, discriminatory taxes, agricultural subsidies to grain producers, and restrictions on US exports of high-tech steel, 15 of the 24 enforcement actions are targeted to China’s wrongful and WTO ¬illegal policies.
Froman said, “We also introduced financially significant cases against India’s unlawful, nonscience ¬based ban on US poultry, Western financial assistance to municipal aircraft, and Argentina’s transfer limitations,” Our business administration achievements have favourably impacted billions of dollars of US exports.”
Froman also included that the situation in which the US had pushed China for the imposition of unlawful anti¬dumping responsibilities has led to the outlet of USD 5 billion dollars marketplaces of automatic and car parts. “Against India’s local content requirements, our case for India opened up estimated USD 1 billion markets and against China’s illegal duties on US poultry, our case is worth an estimated USD1 billion,” Froman told in his statement.
